Full course description
In this five-day workshop, educators learn how to design community-based mapping projects that engage students, align with core standards and work within existing curricula. Participants learn the fundamentals of project-based learning within the CMaP framework and how to enhance projects with educational technology while experiencing firsthand how effective project-based learning can be.

Expected Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this course participants should be able to:
- Build relationships with local community leaders and GIS professionals.
- Analyze real-life issues in the community
- Use GIS, GPS and other geo-spatial technologies to enhance the understanding of issues and facilitate informed decision making.
- Design a local community project for their classroom and demonstrate how it aligns with state core standards in their content area.
Write up a CMaP classroom project description following the template provided in class. Include core curriculum standards and objectives that the project supports.
