Full course description

This workshop introduces teachers to the use of digital cameras to enhance student learning. Participants learn basic skills in taking and editing digital photos while exploring how digital photography can be integrated into project-based lessons that engage students in curricula. In addition to gaining hands-on experience with digital cameras and free software for photo editing, participants create a multimedia project they can use in the classroom.

Expected Learning Outcomes:
At the conclusion of this course students should be able to:

  • Identify and develop a project-based multimedia activity for their students using digital cameras/images.
  • Understand basics of how digital cameras work and be able to transfer the images from the camera to their computer using imaging software
  • Edit, enhance and optimize images for classroom activities using photo editing software.

Final Assessment
Create an example project or presentation for students using digital images. Build a lesson plan to implement the project/presentation.
